My Lovely Greenhouse

The nicest place to be in my garden is without doubt the greenhouse. This was made for me by a friend of mine in appreciation for some help I'd given him. I'd always hankered after a greenhouse of my own and I love mine to bits. It is a sturdy structure, half greenhouse and half polytunnel. Shaped like a small house it has a wooden frame and is covered in thick plastic. My friend has also made a huge Pumpkin Dome which is sitting at the back of my house. Suitable for exotic trees and shrubs, a bit like a mini Eden dome.
The ground around my house is infertile as the house was build on a heap of shale. I have to import compost, cow dung and seaweed regularly and in copious amounts to improve the quality of the soil. This is easiest to do inside the greenhouse. Growing inside I have early potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, parsley, pumpkin, courgettes and cucumbers. In my opinion, there is nothing nicer than the simple pleasure of eating a home grown tomato or potato. I was told by another friend recently that she knows people who have a hammock slung up inside their greenhouse. I think this is a fabulous idea, unfortunatley I'm usually so busy gardening that I don't have spare time to spend soaking up the sun, lying around in a hammock inside my own greenhouse.
